Major Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water systems, per reports from city officials.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 rockets targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city experienced significant strikes overnight. A young boy lost their life and three other people were hurt.

The attacks succeed nights of air raids in the area, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The entire country is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to spot.

National leaders told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
